Little Collections

I love hearing about other people's collections ... art or stamps or teapots. It's fascinating to me. I've always wanted a collection but didn't really know where to start. I would collect everything cause I can't pick a favorite anything.

In keeping with the 'decorate on a dime in two days' theme at our house this month, I found I indeed DID have a collection. I collection of little art. I've been hanging these pieces as singles in random spots in my home. When together, I think they form a new type of communication. A little glimpse into the things I find inspiring. Two of the pieces are mine; one is Donna Downey's new line from Inspired 3; one is a Kelly Rae Roberts print from Inspired 2; one is from Lisa Kelley of Milkshake Crafts, and the other is a newbie from CD Muckosky.  Little inspirations that make a big impact for me.

What are you collecting right now?  Are they things that take up space in your life, or things that bring you joy and inspiration?

I think you collection is so cool and looks awesome on your wall!

I don't think I have a collection, really. I used to but after years of moving every 18 mos, I got tired of packing it up and unpacking it so I gave it away. GQ collects little sports bobble heads though. :)

Nice collection Paula!

I've been lucky enough to collect a number of turned wood pieces (and a Plays With Mud piece!) from some great woodturners and other artists. The really cool thing about my collection is most of it came from bartering or group trades.

I've built a website for an Anatoly Tsiris piece and I've done postcards and other creative work for a Charles Farrar piece. Both were bargains compared to the work I did.

I've also won two Charles Farrar pieces, that I treasure, in raffles. To give you an idea of his talent, he has a piece in Maya Angelou's collection as well as President Obama's collection.

We do a dirty Santa gift exchange at the Charlotte Woodturners Christmas party that nets me a piece to add to my collection each year too.

I've participated in at least three group trades over the Internet where everyone was assigned a number and number one sent to number two, number two to three, and so on. You didn't know who you were getting from in some cases so it added to the fun. I've got some really cool pieces over the years.

Keep collecting!
