I've been reflecting a lot lately on what a new year means. It's such a fresh start for everyone; a great way to clean up from the last year and give yourself the opportunity to renew ... to recraft your life or a portion of your life into the one you really want for yourself. It's the universal starting point, or for some, starting over point.
The New Year gives me the chance to visit the parts of my life that aren't working, or that need a little tweaking. I've spent the last two weeks thinking about what I want my life to deliver to the world; what I want it to deliver to my family. I haven't come to any solid conclusions as of yet, but I've figured out a couple of things standing in my way from making any positive change. So I'm gonna start there.
As with last year, I'm choosing a word this year to focus on. It helps me make decisions in my life. 2010 = Simplify. In everything I do, I want to simplify my life, my actions, and my surroundings. Kevin and I cleaned the whole house over the past couple of weeks, and it's amazing how it feels to declutter and organize. I got rid of those things that were broken and I said I'd fix (which I never did); clothes with holes in them that never made me feel professional or pretty when I wore them, but I liked them anyway (they're gone). And papers that I thought I would need one day - if they were really important, they are getting scanned into the computer. Otherwise, they're gone too. Simplify. Everything.
So, what are your plans for this fresh new start? A resolution? A new word? A career change? A bigger family? Let's use this opportunity to support each other in making these positive changes in our lives. Happy New Year everyone - make it a fabulous time!!!

What a beautiful post Paula. I am also really trying to clear out the excess in my life. Love more - that is what i am going to try to do this year. I can get so focused on my to do list that it gets in the way of me being fully present in my interactions with others. I want that to change.
I'm hoping to simplify, too, Paula! :) You got a head start, great for you!! :)
you do have a way with words!
great post!
