Documenting the holidays

I've realized I spend a lot of time focusing on "What If?" What if I had more time? What if I had my dream job? What if I had ended up at that school (yeah, that one), instead of where I chose? And as I take stock of the possible answers to those questions, I'm realizing that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. Right now. Right here.

With November here much quicker than I anticipated, I've decided to focus on being here. Being in it. Being in the moment and capturing as much of it as I can. Sure I'll plan. And yes, I'll continue dreaming. But the holidays are so special, and with this being our first season as a family of four, I want to focus on the sweetness that is around us.

I've decided to use Ali Edward's December Daily to do just that. I've witnessed this on her blog in the past, but have always been too scared/overwhelmed/busy/nervous/tired to participate. I changed my mind (along with my attitude) this time around. To borrow from that behemoth sporting goods brand, I'm just gonna do it.

My goals with the December Daily process (setting up the foundation)
  • Use what I have
  • Try at least one technique I've never used before
  • Experiment with at least one product I've never used before
  • Work on several pages each week so the album is ready by Dec. 1
  • Use the words "want to" when planning out my process, rather than "have to" or "need to"
  • Relax and enjoy it

I'm excited. In fact, I'm want to work on some of my pages after the kids are asleep tonight. Please share the things you are doing to document your holiday season.

Oooooh, like this! I've never done it, either, but the way you put it, it seems like more fun than responsibility! Maybe I'll do it!

I love Ali for all her inspiration! Can't wait to see your completed project Paula!

I haven't planned out what I'm doing this holiday season to document. Probably just taking tons of pictures and jotting notes on the calendar maybe? We're going to be fresh in a new house and family visiting, so I'm not going to be too organized by the holidays...I'm assuming.
