So my slacker self finally gave my friend Ashley and her hubby their wedding gift (only a month late). This is a new design I've been working on as an alternative to my Forever Vase. It includes a cherry blossom stamp, and the names of the bride and groom, as well as the wedding date. I think it's pretty sweet. Custom pieces will be available for sale in my shop.
These vases are an example of a new technique I'm trying. I don't have a huge selection of glazes in my studio, so I played with some underglazes. With these vases, I brushed on 4 coats of underglaze, then carved out the lines with a design tool. The end result is a bit of a rustic look, which I adore. I have an 'interested party' in these already, but I love them so I might have to make a few more.
